Flanked by water on both sides, Curtain Bluff sits on a rocky promontory (bluff) that juts into the sea between two beautiful beaches. One is calm, ideal for swimming and water sports; the other beach is washed by ocean surf. 72 rooms and suites, all with staggering seascape views, are spread out along the Surf Beach and up the bluff. There are two restaurants: the open-walled Tamarind Tree serving breakfasts and candle-lit dinners, and the Beach Café & Bar, where barefoot-casual lunches are enjoyed one step from the sand and a few feet from the water’s edge.

Each of the seventy-two suites and rooms, peppered atop the bluff, are all-inclusive, and the amount of activities on offer is astounding. You’ll enjoy four tennis courts all floodlit, yoga, squash, pool, croquet and an extensive range of watersports (both motorised and non-motorised). Complimentary equipment is offered, as is instruction, for all of your watersport needs including windsurfing, Sunfish Hobie Cats, sea kayaks, water-skiing, snorkelling and scuba diving. For certified divers the equipment will also be included.

The spa is a huge 5,000 sq foot in size and is situated on the very edges of the shore, with treatments conducted outdoors with the sea oscillating in the background.

To cap off a stay in this exquisite resort, you’ll be able to indulge in a few extra special luxuries like Cuban cigars, exquisite wines and spa treatments. It’s all included in the rates, and shows great value for your holiday in the Caribbean. You’ll truly experience a slice of luxury!

Curtain Bluff Accommodation

On the Beach

Deluxe Room – Curtain Bluff’s most affordable accommodations, the 18 Deluxe Rooms fill a two-story Caribbean-style villa right on Surf Beach, a short walk down a shaded pathway from the bar and restaurant. 9 rooms are on the beach level, with spacious terraces that lead straight out on to the sand. Spread out on the floor above, nine more have verandas looking out over the sand and sea to the distant headland. All are decorated in a colourful West-Indian style, with contemporary dark-wood furniture, white bedcovers and colourful accents that evoke the colours of the sea.

Junior Suite – The 40 Junior Suites are spread through three-story villas right on the resort’s Surf Beach, just a stone’s throw from the water. All have sunken living rooms and separate bedrooms with elegant sea-grass sofas and armchairs, accented with rich blues and greens that mirror the colours outside. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead on to verandas and terraces looking out over the sea, palms and lushly forested shoreline. The grand marble and white tile bathrooms have double sinks, big tubs and large, open-walled showers.

Grace Morris Bay Suites – The most luxurious of Curtain Bluff’s accommodations, these 2 generously scaled suites occupy the third floor of a Caribbean-style villa, right on the resort’s “surf” beach. Both suites are luxuriously furnished with blue-marble bathrooms, colonial furniture, richly coloured fabrics and lush palms. The bedroom and adjoining living room lead out on to a sweeping veranda with sun-chairs and a Jacuzzi, the perfect place for private sunbathing or cocktails under the stars. The suites can be linked to a Junior Suite to create a two-bedroom suite. Extended groups and families can take over the whole floor (four bedrooms).

On the Bluff

Executive Deluxe Room – Set into the rocky edge of the bluff, the 5 Executive Deluxe Rooms have same décor, bedroom and bathroom as the Executive One-bedroom Suites, but no living room. Their spacious terraces look out over both the sea and the resort’s Surf Beach. When combined with an Executive Suite (using an interconnecting door), it creates the perfect space for two couples or a family, with three different levels, a shared living room and well-separated bedrooms.

Terrace Room – The unique Terrace room is the most popular choice for newly-weds thanks to its private location at the very top of the bluff and breathtaking views over the beach, Morris Bay and the Caribbean Sea. White walls, bright sea-blue fabrics, one-of-a-kind furnishings and glowing woods give the room a sense of calm, timeless sophistication. Its large 567-square-foot terrace with an elevated Jacuzzi is the ideal spot for private relaxation and dining.

Executive One-bedroom Suite – Overlooking Surf Beach but a few steps higher up the bluff, the 6 one- and two-bedroom Executive Suites are more private and secluded. Their split-level interiors are light and airy, decorated with natural-wood and sea-grass furniture and bright, natural colours. To the side of the large living room there is a sun-drenched garden patio with a hammock. Upstairs there is a breakfast nook and a 16-foot-wide dining terrace that make the most of the panoramic views.

Curtain Bluff Restaurants & Bars

The Tamarind Tree – Open-walled in the traditional plantation style, the main restaurant looks out over a terrace canopied by the spreading limbs of a majestic tamarind tree. At breakfast the restaurant is shaded from the bright morning sun and cooled by a breeze from the sea, just visible through the palms. The menu includes favorites like banana pancakes, French toast and Eggs Benedict, plus traditional island dishes, fresh juices and fruit. All breads, croissants and pastries are freshly baked by the accomplished pastry chef. At dinner the tables are flecked with candlelight and the terrace sparkles with decorative lights. Changing every night, the five-course menu always includes salads, locally caught fish, outstanding meats, healthy options and so many desserts they have their own menu. Each evening there is a different band and, as diners filter out of the restaurant to sit at the terrace tables, the tempo builds and couples dance in the moonlight.

The Sea Grape Restaurant – Located down by the beach with views across the ocean to Montserrat, this eatery is open for lunch. In the evening it is transformed into an intimate beach side restaurant, with drapes that billow softly in the ocean breezes and tiki torches that flicker gently on the sand. The restaurant offers a relaxed dining experience with cuisine influenced from local Antiguan and Italian flavours. Guests can choose from a varied menu with delicious items such as Pesce Spada alla Griglia (char-grilled swordfish with warm parsley vinaigrette) or Gelato made locally at Curtain Bluff, under the guidance of an Italian chef Timo. It is open 4 nights a week Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday between 7.00pm and 9.30 pm.

Wine Cellar – Like the other alcoholic beverages, the excellent house wines are included in the room rate. But for those aficionados looking for a truly special wine, Curtain Bluff keeps one of the finest cellars in the Caribbean, stocked with over 25,000 bottles priced between $US 50 and $US 2,000. The sommelier, George Williams, has trained in France and the California wine country. He now oversees the purchasing, storage and serving of an extensive selection of wines from around the world. Ask him for a tour of the cellar or join one of George’s wine tastings held in the cellar’s tasting room on Friday afternoons.
