Have you ever seen thousands of animals crossing a river at the same time, or traveled so far from civilization that it made you forget all of the things that normally fill your thoughts? The best places to experience nature are those that have natural wonders not found elsewhere and are not overrun by tourists. These three top the list of any nature lover for must-visit locations.

Maasai Mara

A safari across the African savannah ranks as one of the top outdoor experiences on the planet, and the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya offers an excellent place to take one. During the spring and early summer, you’ll be able to witness the magnificent wildebeest migration which has achieved fame worldwide. The experience of seeing over a million wildebeest make the 1,800-mile journey across the Mara River will stay with you for a lifetime. Also, the savannah is home to over 470 species of birds as well as being home to herds of giraffes, antelope and zebras as well as Africa’s “big five”.

There are many great reasons to scuba dive, but the one that most captures people’s imagination is marine wildlife. From schools of tropical fish to sharks, tropical seas house an impressive chunk of Earth’s life that most people only ever see on the Discovery channel.

Still, as a diver, I firmly believe that swimming with a school of fish or sharing a manta ray’s habitat for a few minutes is about more than recreation.

The Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu are two of the finest attractions that South America has to offer. Here, we will outline a bit of a guide for visiting these two amazing locations.

Both attractions have their own unique draws. Machu Picchu is an archeologist’s dream; this extensive citadel, built by the Incas in around the mid-1400′s, is a fantastic maze of stone passageways, houses and temples, all combining to create one of the best known pictures on the planet.

Part of the mystery surrounding Machu Picchu is that it is still not known what the purpose of this city actually was.

Some suggest it was a royal retreat, while others opine that it was a sacred place of worship.
