There really are many different tourist attractions in Saint Tropez, although the significance of the beaches to the town’s tourism industry cannot be understated. The tropical beaches and coastal attractions of Saint Tropez have long been the number one reason that so many people flock to this resort during the sunny summer season.

However, once you have topped up your tan sufficiently, dipped your toes in the Baie de Pampelonne, and tried your hands at a huge choice of water sports, there are a number other notable tourist attractions worth investigating. The coastal footpaths around the town are not to be overlooked, along with the plentiful vineyards close by, where you can sample the regional produce before purchasing a bottle or two.

Beaches

Especially popular and sited along the coastline, next to the Baie de Pampelonne, the Pampelonne Beach (Plage de Pampelonne) is a glorious stretch of sand and covers a distance of just over 5 km / 3 miles. This beach is therefore long enough no to be crowded, despite the huge numbers who come here to sunbathe, swim and generally relax, occasionally in the nude. The promenade next to Pampelonne Beach is overflowing with beachfront bars, cafes and gift shops. In total there are approximately 40 different beaches scattered around the peninsula and within easy reach of Saint Tropez, with the most popular including Bonne Terrase, Bouillabaisse Beach (Plage de Bouillabaisse), Caneliers Beach (Plage de Caneliers), l’Escalet Beach, Salins Beach (Les Salins), Tahiti Beach (Plage de Tahiti) and also Les Graniers, close to the Citadel and the Port des Pêcheurs.

Wine Tasting and Vineyards

The Côte de Provence has long been known for its spreading vineyards and this part of France produces some highly acclaimed wines. There are a number of excellent vineyards located close to Saint Tropez and Gassin, and these regularly offer wine tasting sessions. The main vineyards also feature a shop selling their very own produce.

Coastal Hiking and Footpaths

Many visitors staying in Saint Tropez choose to explore the coastal attractions and scenery, and take a walk along the various hiking trails, which stretch for around 12 km / 7 miles in total, between Pampelonne Beach and the Portalet Tower. Along the way you will be able to enjoy stunning vistas of Tahiti Beach, Les Salins Beach, Cap de St. Tropez and Canoubiers Bay. If you wish to only walk one way, then a minibus is usually available at the other end to take you back to the resort.

Sports and Water Sports

There is an absolutely enormous selection of recreational attractions and sports on offer in the Saint Tropez area of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur. Taking full advantage of the beautiful scenery and views on offer, the main sports include cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding, parasailing, sailing, scuba diving, swimming and windsurfing. Those thrill seekers looking for an adrenaline rush are even able to participate in bungee jumping.
