Football stadiums – or stadia – are generally seen as being some of the most boring pieces of structure around – after all, how far can you deviate in a design that needs to seat so many thousand people all facing the same way? Here are a few iconic stadiums that do stand out, however.

Old Trafford is the second largest stadium in England and home to Manchester United FC. The stadium has a capacity of 75,811 seats. In the first decade of the 20th century Manchester United played its matches at a 50,000-stadium at Bank Street, when then president Davies began planning for a new stadium with double that capacity. A site was chosen near Trafford Park industrial estate, and architect Archibald Leitch appointed to design the stadium.

Manchester is a city and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester, England with an estimated population of 498,800 in 2010. Manchester lies within one of the United Kingdom’s largest urban areas; the Greater Manchester Urban Area which has a population of 2.2 million.

Barca, the colloquial name for Fútbol Club Barcelona or F.C. Barcelona, is known and respected throughout the world as one of its premier teams, and is one of only three never to have been relegated from the Spanish La Liga. It is one of the most famous football teams in Europe, second in Spain only to Real Madrid. In fact, according to the official statistics it was the most successful team worldwide between the years of 1991 and 2011.

Here’s a look at some of the venues for sport in London, including a look ahead to the 2012 Olympic venues and other popular spectator sports in and around the city of London.

Londoners have a ravenous appetite for sports, football in particular. London boasts six teams playing in the Premiership and ten other teams in lower divisions of professional football.

The most successful or at least the most popular teams are Chelsea, champions of the English Premier League, and Arsenal.

When it comes to the city of Milan, there are always too much to say as in people’s mind, this is a city full of natural glamour and mystery. Milan has been given several nicknames such as ‘The Fashion Capital of the World’, ‘City with heart in a hand’, ‘Drinkable City’, ‘Factory of the Future’, and ‘The Moral Capital of Italy’. Among those appraisals, I believe people all over the world will agree with ‘The Fashion Capital of the World’ as Milan is the home to the Fashion Week and a lot of big brands, namely Valentino, Gucci, Versace, Prada, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana.
