The Hotel Modern New Orleans has an immediately welcoming feel; with no check-in desk, guests are greeted with complimentary drinks in the lobby lounge and escorted to their rooms just as if they were staying at a friend’s guesthouse. The 135 comfortable rooms were designed in-house with a modern eclectic aesthetic that mirrors the city’s juxtaposition of Old World charm with New World diversity.

Each room features a spacious layout and selection of furniture to fit the needs of busy travelers, yet also has a distinct style with decorative antiques throughout. The hotel goes beyond the basics to offer an array of cultural amenities such as thoughtfully curated books in every room as well as burlesque shows and a music series with international artists in the cocktail lounge, Bellocq. Named for photographer E.J. Bellocq, who secretly photographed the madams of pre-prohibition New Orleans, Bellocq will feature a menu of original cocktail creations from Cure founders Neal Bodenheimer, Kirk Estopinal and Matthew Kohnke that evoke the city’s past.

Acclaimed New Orleans chef Dominique Macquet (Dominique’s on Magazine) along with his chef de cuisine Quan Tran, will open Tamarind at The Hotel Modern New Orleans. The restaurant is named after the exotic tropical fruit Macquet enjoyed as a child growing up in Mauritius and will explore Vietnamese cuisine from the perspective of nearly a century of French colonial presence in Vietnam, lasting from 1858 until the battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954. Open for lunch and dinner (as well as breakfast for hotel guests), Tamarind features a 70-seat dining room with an outdoor courtyard and a 40-seat private dining room.

Hotel Modern New Orleans’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A bar/lounge is open for drinks. Room service is available during limited hours. The hotel serves cooked-to-order breakfasts each morning in the restaurant (surcharges apply). Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in public areas. Concierge services, limo/town car service, and tour assistance are available. Guest parking is available for a surcharge. Additional property amenities include a library, multilingual staff, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. A total renovation of this property was completed in December 2011.

Guestrooms. 

135 air-conditioned guestrooms at Hotel Modern New Orleans feature iPod docking stations and minibars. Beds come with pillowtop mattresses and premium bedding. These individually decorated rooms include desks. Bathrooms feature shower/tub combinations, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. In addition to safes, guestrooms offer multi-line phones as well as complimentary local and long-distance calls (restrictions may apply). LCD televisions have cable channels. Rooms also include clock radios. Guests may request irons/ironing boards and wake-up calls. A nightly turndown service is offered and housekeeping is available daily.
