When you land at the Las Vegas airport, you’ll know you’ve arrived. There’s no mistaking this town for any other on the planet. The glamour starts at your gate. But it’s a mere taste of what’s in store. Because if everything you know about Vegas comes from a vacation you took years ago or a movie you once saw, you’re in for a surprise.
Modern Vegas truly is like no other place on earth. Perhaps because of its reputation, or perhaps in spite of that, the world’s top everything have converged in this city of indulgence to offer the ultimate in experiences for well-researched travelers. Sure you can still find a cheap shrimp cocktail, but you’re more likely to stumble across craft cocktails or fusion dishes delicately designed by chefs whose names you’re already familiar with. And they’re joined by fashion designers, hoteliers, brands and celebrities of equal status.
There’s still plenty of the gaming you love, to be sure. But now your pit stops to refuel, refashion and relax are among the best in the world. The chefs you know and love have all set up shop here. Batali, Puck, Lagasse and more. And the design houses have followed suit. Stock up on stilettos by Jimmy Choo, handbags by Chanel and jewels by Harry Winston.
Of course, you don’t have to be a member of the royal family to enjoy yourself. That’s the magic of this town – there really is something to satisfy everyone. And every budget.
Favorite destinations for the other 99 percent of us include Fashion Show, The Forum Shops at Caesars or even the Las Vegas Outlets. There are dozens of shows in this town. There are, of course, the ever-popular Cirque du Soleil spectaculars, which live up to the hype. And the celebrity-headlined shows like Penn & Teller’s stint at the Rio.
But there are an equal number of more intimate shows, at the city’s out-of-the-way resorts, where you can often find some of the funniest, most nostalgic or just plain strangest spectacles. And it’s these boutique shows that make every visit here a brand-new experience.
What is most spectacular about this place is that it’s a melting pot, free from the stress that exists outside the city limits. It’s a place where you, or anyone, can come to let loose and rediscover themselves. And they do come from all over. Your Vegas experience will be uniquely your own. And every time you visit, it will feel transformed. A stay at the classically elegant Wynn is a different experience entirely than booking a room at the trendy Cosmopolitan. Both alike in their level of excellence and service, but dramatically different in atmosphere.
This town, for all its excess and opulence, can be exactly what you want it to be. And the next day, become something else entirely. But its true secret is that with a little bit of planning and an adventurous spirit, you too can become anyone you want to be.
