Culture buffs are right at home in Artists’ Row, a group of galleries and shops along Broad, Eighth and 10th streets in downtown Augusta.

For a splash of adventure, kayak or canoe through the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area and explore an industrial canal built in 1845 to harness the water and power of the Savannah River.

Visit the oldest documented home in Augusta, Meadow Garden, a pre-1791 farmhouse. This structure was once the residence of George Walton, the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence and a two-time Georgia governor.

Celebrate the American South’s history from the early 19th century to the present at Morris Museum of Art, and view thousands of Georgia-related works.

Wrap up the Augusta experience with a GreenJackets game at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Augusta’s minor-league baseball team plays here from April through September, and the legendary Cal Ripken is a frequent spectator.
