With 11 notable casinos, Atlantic City is the Las Vegas of the East. Many of these gaming establishments have been open for business for years; the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which opened in 2003, remains by far the swankiest.

Visitors can climb 228 steps to the top of Absecon Lighthouse, New Jersey’s tallest lighthouse. The original Fresnel lens dates to 1857.

Moray eels, sea turtles and sea anemones are among the critters on display at the Atlantic City Aquarium, located at Historic Gardner’s Basin. The main exhibit spotlights fish of the mid-Atlantic Ocean.
