The Barossa Valley and Australian Wine
When the entire country is considered, we see popular Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot bottles across the price range coming out of Australia, many of them far better than their prices would suggest. While the country’s large size inhibits some travel, the fertility of many of its regions make a wine trip to the western and southern parts of the country, including the Barossa Valley, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane entirely reasonably and likely to be full of good wine.
Australia’s varied climate and long history of with wine growing have made it one of the best wine producing countries in the world. The next time you’re in the market for a new bottle of wine or a wine vacation, the Barossa valley should be on your short list of locations to consider, both for the quality of the wine and the variety of affordable options.
