Mobile Must-Sees

Historic antebellum homes, lush gardens and the oldest Mardi Gras celebration in America draw visitors to this gracious Southern city.

From around mid-February to early March, the city comes alive as it celebrates Mardi Gras with parades, floats, special events and parties.

Year-round, visit the nearby 65-acre Bellingrath Gardens and Home or the 100-acre Mobile Botanical Gardens, with nature trails and themed exhibits.

Sports fans enjoy the Hank Aaron Childhood Home and Museum. Also visit the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center and the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park, home to a famous World War II ship.

Outdoor activities are plentiful. Walk the boardwalks through Alligator Alley, home to more than 100 alligators, some 13 feet long. Go bird-watching on Dauphin Island, one of the top flyways for bird migration in the United States.

Golf at one of Mobile’s 10 championship courses or charter a fishing excursion to land a trophy catch.
