The serene surroundings of the marshes and creeks threading through Pawleys Island, framed by 200-year-old moss-draped oaks, perfectly play into a memorable day of golf at Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club.

Jack Nicklaus was meticulous when designing this classic Lowcountry course in 1988, one in which it’s common for golfers to play numerous times and never have the same shot twice. That’s because sand bunkers, water-bordered fairways and unique obstacles creep closely around the Bermuda grass greens.

That’s garnered national attention from Zagat, who named Pawleys Plantation one of “America’s Top Courses”; Golf World, who ranked it among the top 30 courses in the state in 2009 and 2010; and Golf Digest, who awarded the course 4 stars in “Places to Play.”

The 18-hole Pawleys Plantation measures in at 7,026 yards, a par 72 and slope rating of 140. Additional amenities include the charming clubhouse and conference facility, as well as the Phil Ritson-Mel Sole Golf School, named one of the “25 Best Golf Schools in America” by Golf Magazine.
