Just two hours north of Vancouver, B.C., The Fairmont Chateau Whistler attracts a warm-weather clientele of golfers, hikers, and spa aficionados.

At the base of Canada’s largest ski area, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club’s 18-hole course provides elevation changes of more than 400 feet and copious views of snowcapped peaks and lush evergreen forests. Carved out of the rugged Coast Range, it traverses creeks and ponds in a landscape of granite rock faces and stands of Douglas fir.

Ranked as the top golf resort in Canada by Condé Nast Traveler, the property includes Canada’s only David Leadbetter Golf Academy, with the latest computer analysis technology and a variety of instruction programs for both groups and individuals. The season runs from early May to mid-October.

High above the resort, Whistler Mountain’s designated hiking trails wind through flower-filled meadows and past serene alpine lakes. Qualified mountain guides lead informal walks on local history, flora, and fauna. Those who loathe the uphill climb catch the gondola to the summit and hike down.

Guests in pursuit of relaxation visit the Vida Wellness Spa. Here, they find 4,200 square feet of luxurious treatment rooms and a menu of intriguing local therapies, including an Ayurvedic Swedana full-body massage with cedar steam cabinet detoxification. The Canadian Maple Body Exfoliation sloughs away dry skin with a mixture of cinnamon, lemon, and maple sugar.

Those on business enjoy access to 28,000 square feet of award-winning indoor meeting space—25 meeting and special event rooms, including the 11,730-square-foot Macdonald Ballroom.

With easy access to a wealth of galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and nightclubs in bustling Whistler Village, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers an array of exhilarating experiences rivaled only by the mountain scenery.
