As the highest peak in Western Europe, Mt. Blanc is perhaps the most famed ascent in the Alps, and considered the birthplace of climbing. First climbed in 1786, Mt. Blanc maintains the same allure today given the peaks stunning beauty, pristine villages and its prominence as the Alps high point. The peak has relatively easy access and Alpine Ascents will provide training prior to the climb and take on the summit of Aiguille Du Tour, before we attempt Mt. Blanc.
SKI DOMAIN : Portes du Soleil 1000m-2300m is the largest ski area in France (650km of slopes) linking by slopes or by road 12 charming French and Swiss village resorts (Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Châtel, Chambéry etc.) with top facilities. It is a long-distance, border-hopping skiing domain, ideal for intermediates. Avoriaz is Europe’s snowboarding mecca .
Skiing : Main resorts: Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Châtel in France and Champéry in Switzerland… we counted 626 snow canons covering an area of 228ha of which 280 green, blue, red and black pistes spread over 650km and 9 snowparks and also Dedicated beginners’ slopes and Cross-country ski trails .
Les Gets is an attractive family-friendly resort, partly car-free and made up of traditional chalet-style buildings. The quiet ambiance and facilities for children make it a favorite of families, but there are also many places to eat and drink on the main street for a relaxed après-ski. The local slopes it shares with Morzine are the most extensive of the domain and offer enough variety to keep beginners and intermediates entertained.
